Excerpt

This is an excerpt from a novella I'm working on. It has a working title of "Perfection". I only have a couple of pages written thus far. I haven't touched it in a couple of months, mostly because I'm not 100% sure what I want to do with it yet. This is the opening paragraph, a letter addressed to the counsel that decides the fates of many species across many galaxies:

Dear Sirs and Madams,

I am writing to you on behalf of the human race established on the planet Earth of the Milky Way galaxy. We humbly request a counsel to discuss the future of this human race.

We believe that our race has lost its vitality and is becoming stagnant. We are experiencing an unexpected epidemic of severe depressive states. We respectfully request a species set back so that we can begin again. Thank you kindly.

Sincerely Yours,
Rigel Nethers,
President of the Earth Systems

Murphy's Law

Here is a poem that I wrote for my Introduction to Literature class that I'm taking this semester. Poetry is my weakest area, but I figured I post it anyway.

Murphy's Law
by Twilightrose

This man Murphy
He made this law
A law of the world that says:
Anything that can go wrong,
Will go wrong.

I’ve always said
My mother, she had it
Wrong
My middle name should’ve been
Murphy’s Law.

I think Lady Irony must’ve been
Ol’ Murphy’s best friend.
Maybe just his guardian angel
Sometimes I think she’s mine.
Alanis sang her an ode;
And yes I really do think…

That in my life there was a time
When something went wrong
With Murphy’s Law
Every time
That I look into
My daughter’s eyes.

Lost Projects

I must have started a million projects over the years, never to finish a thing. Well, besides the things that I was required to finish for grades and the occasional small piece here and there.

I have at least three projects right now that are caught in a state of limbo on a messed up hard drive. I also have several on this computer that I just pulled back out of storage and got running again. I've looked at the stories I started over a year ago, but I just can't seem to find the connection to them after so long. Who knows though, maybe in a few weeks I'll suddenly be struck with the inspiration to pick back up on them.

For now, I'm letting my thoughts stew...
